Carol Leather, Class of 1964

Carol Leather (née Scott) has been part of the furniture at CHS for the past 30 years. Secretary of the Old Waconians’ Association from 1991 to 2015, and a committee member until 2017, Carol is a familiar face around School and it is down to her commitment that so many Old Waconians have maintained their links with Cheadle Hulme School over the years.

Carol first joined the Old Wacs' Association after a chance encounter with Miss Kight, the retired teacher and Head of the Girls’ Boarding House, who then nominated Carol for the position in 1989. Shortly after joining, she became secretary in 1991. As well as managing the administrative side of the association, Carol was responsible for keeping in touch with the members - a huge and rewarding task! Her unwavering commitment to the OWA has meant our network was able to grow even before the days of databases and e-mail, and Carol still enjoys maintaining links with Old Wacs.

Carol has also continued to support CHS through helping maintain the school’s archive, a role which she finds fascinating.

“I love the history and heritage of the School and I’m honoured to play a part in keeping that alive.”
