Having graduated from Cheadle Hulme School in the summer of 2018, Finn Johnson is already making a name for herself outside of Greater Manchester. Now studying an Art degree at Central Saint Martins in London, Finn produced a special piece for the prestigious Royal Academy Show last year – which was selected by judges amid fierce competition (more than 2,000 submissions). Finn’s project, entitled Emaciated Figure, stimulated discussion on the theme of emaciation and the effects of the surrounding world. Made out of clay and aimed to be an ironic interpretation of Finn herself, the sculpture functions as a response to narcissism in society spawned by social media. The head of our art department, Mr Adam Hayley, has heaped praise on Finn for her magnificent achievements since leaving Greater Manchester, and our proud former pupil has kindly allowed the school to sell prints of her artwork as part of our Art2Buy Scheme (designed to fund creative experiences for students).
