Chairman of the Board of Governors, Philip Johnson, enjoyed an esteemed career in accounting before joining Cheadle Hulme School.
He served as Senior Partner for 30 years at Deloitte’s Manchester office until his retirement in May 2007, as well as Chairman of the Deloitte Audit Committee and Head of Quality and Risk Management for the UK audit practice.
Between 2007 and 2015, Philip was Non-Executive Director of Yorkshire Building Society, where he was a seconded member of the Audit Committee of Wellcome Trust between 2008 and 2016. He was also appointed as President of Accountancy Europe, (formerly the Federation of European Accountants) in 2011 and 2012.
Philip is currently the Director of Lakeland Limited and Governor of Manchester College, holding membership at the Audit Committee of the Rugby Football Union, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (where he chairs their Policy Leadership Board).
He is married with two daughters – one of whom attended CHS.
