Tom Curtis - my CHS story

"I arrived at CHS on a sport scholarship in year 7 , that was in September 2012. Football was my main sport, I played all sports but had managed to avoid playing rugby despite my granddad being the chairman of my local club Stockport RUFC for years! I began training with school and played my first competitive rugby game 2 weeks later at no 8 back row. Mr Foster and Mr Burnage were great coaches and I took to it straight away .

I think it soon became apparent that my skills developed from football were better put to use in the middle of the park and within 4 weeks I was playing at fly half / inside centre and soon took over the kicking duties.

Fast forward through 5 great years at CHS including Cheshire County and Sale Sharks representations, and my call up to England U18s came for the South Africa 2018 tour! I have since signed a professional 5 year deal with Sale Sharks starting in June 2019 after my A levels. I am also hoping for a successful Six Nations tour this Easter with England's u18.

CHS will always be special to me, I left with a great set of exam results and a potential professional rugby career. My mum attended CHS and my 2 little brothers are in the Junior School now. I hope they enjoy it and get as many fantastic opportunities to follow their dreams as I did."
